In the hope of saving paper and time I was going to send out a list of all members to each Club so they just had to read and sign but the new BIPHA Membership Form covers everything all on one form so please can you get all Members (new and renewing) to complete a Membership Form

(there are also additional charges to those who wish to play for an age group outside their own Club which are detailed on the Membership Form)

BIPHA Byelaws 4.1
Players may only play for one club/region at each age group.

As there are 11 teams entered there will be 1 league of 6 teams and 1 league of 5 teams

All league games will be 1 x 15 minute period except for the quarter final games which will be 1 x 10 min.

There will be a 1st , 2nd and 3rd place Cups with Medals, also a Player and Netminder of the Tournament (chosen by the referee's during the league games)

Games will cost £20 per team per game (including referees and timekeepers)

I have loaded the stats on following the games yesterday and without any of the Leeds games.

SLEDGE HOCKEY - GIVE IT A GO SESSION

SATURDAY 6TH MARCH

BIPHA will be holding a Come and Try Sledge Hockey Session at Simply Skate in Rotherham. Anyone can come and try this new exciting sport. The 1st session will be held from 10.00am till 11.00am followed by an England v Scotland Sledge Hockey Match. There will then be another free session from 12.00pm till1.00pm.

All the sessions are free, so come along and give it a go.

Sledge Hockey is a variant of ice hockey using sledges to allow participants to move about the rink at high speeds whilst controlling and hitting a puck. Players sit in adapted sledges, propelling themselves with sticks adapted to allow propulsion in a manner similar to skiing. As players are strapped to a sledge everybody has the same restrictions, regardless of whether or not the player has a disability.

MORE HOCKEY?

Itan Chavira (Team USA player and recipient of the NARCh MVP award 2009) will be in the UK taking roller hockey camps in August and invites all players to come along and enjoy learning new skills at one of his camps. Some of you will have experienced the fantastic camps he did last year and have asked him to return...so he has. The first set of camps are planned at Deeside on 8 August for 14, 16 and 18 age group players and 15 August for 10, 12 and 14 age group players, although Itan is happy to accept players from other age groups if you can't make your own age group date. There is a 18, 21 and senior skills/tournament on 9 August at Deeside, so if you want to put a team into the event or turn up and join others let us know. 16 August is a possible date for a morning camp at Sheffield and this will be a mixed age group. We are also looking for opportunities to run a camp at Rotherham after 16 August but that will be a week day, so please let us know if you would be interested in attending and let us know what dates are OK for you. Click on the picture to download a booking form which you should complete and return with the fee. The places will be booked on a first come first serve basis so please let us know if you intend coming, there's a lot of interest and places are limited. Please pass on the information to your club or any other players you know that would be interested in this great event.

GB 2010 TRIALS 19th & 20th September

Trials are open to any player who holds a British Passport

The age groups that BIPHA will be selecting teams for are

U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, SENIOR MENS, U18 GIRLS & SENIOR WOMEN

This year there will only be 1 trial date and those that are selected from these trials will be required to attend the GB Squad training sessions on 18th October and 8th November

The 2010 GB team will be announced after the 8th November Squad Training Session.

The Trials will cost £15 per player

Any player who played for GB U10,U12,U14,U16 & U18 Girls this season needs only to attend the Squad Training Sessions.

Anyone wishing to trial for the GB Senior Men or Women must attend the trials on 19/20th September

The times for each age group will be announced on the main BIPHA website.

Congratulations to Warriors who won the Senior Nationals last weekend.Well done to Projoy who were knocked out by Warriors in the semi's and Hull who were knocked out by Dundee in the quarters.

SENIOR LEAGUE RESULTS

The last day of the season was full of twists and turns!

Congratulations to Hull Fury and Projoy Warriors who will represent the North East in the BIPHA Nationals. Commiserations to Kingston Panthers who after the leading the league for so much of this season lost out by just one point. Congratulations to York Flyers who were winners of the B league from Staffordshire Sharks who again lost out by just one point after spending so much of the season leading the league.

REFEREE COURSE - 13th & 14th June

The North East will be holding a Referee Course on the weekend of 13/14th June. The theory part of the course will be held on Saturday afternoon at the IBIS Hotel in Rotherham. The practical session will take place during the Viking Cup games the following day. You will be paid for games reffereed. To book your place or if you would like to attend as a Refresher please email me. Timekeepers welcome also. You are welcome to attend even if you do not wish to referee but wish to gain a better knowledge of the rules.

BIPHA GRASSROOTS DEVELOPMENT - SMALL GRANT SCHEME

The BIPHA Grassroots Development Small Grant Scheme has been created to provide a small amount of help to Affiliated Regions who are actively developing at Grassroots level and coach/referee development. Affiliated Regions (as described in Section 3.6 and 3.6a of the BIPHA Constitution) may apply for up to £250 per year towards costs. The funding year starts on 1st March and ends on the last day of February each year.

will be at Virtual Ice on Sunday 1st March filming during the day. After the last game there will be a game between Sheffield Kings and Kingston Panthers.
We need loads of people there to watch the game and to make plenty of noise. This is a great opportunity to promote our sport on TV so if you can stay to spectate this game then please do.
